BUCKEYE RIDESHARE

UI/UX prototype

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Buckeye Rideshare is a concept for a free transportation service for Ohio State students. Not only is it free, but it seeks to increase student involvement on campus and emphasize safety at all times.

Drivers earn on-campus prizes for providing rides, and riders can get free transportation to any event from a fellow Buckeye.

This project used skills learned in conducting design research, research analysis, and making UI/UX Figma prototypes.

RIDESHARE APP
WIREFRAME

Safety is our priority.

This Figma prototype runs through what the user experience would be as a rider seeking a ride from another student. They simply put in their destination, look through driver options, and wait to be picked up!

This was the final deliverable for the project.

METHODS

Easy ordering through their app

Users can request the gender of their driver

Safety support lines and measures are available, but not prominent

Safety is a big concern. There are many cases of riders reporting feeling unsafe in their Lyft or Uber.

SURVEY RESULTS

62%

of participants need transportation at least once a semester.

of participants don’t have a car on campus.

95.7%

63%

are more inclined to attend an event if they can carpool.

DRIVERS

RIDERS

odds of using transportation with cost

Odds of using transportation without cost

Drivers

are more likely to offer a ride if there is an incentive provided. They were also interested in incentives besides monetary pay.

RIDERS

are more likely to attend campus events if transportation is free. However, they were more likely to use the buses rather than a student carpool.

Lo-fi figma wireframe

The prototypes for Buckeye Rideshare were made using vector assets from Illustrator in a Figma interactive wireframe. Using the ink wireframe plug ins built into Figma, I made a rough skeletal prototype first, to test out the structure of the app and the various buttons/assets. Then, after user testing with my peers and multiple rounds of critique, I began the final prototype of the app.
