SINATRA ALBUM COVER

REDESIGN

PRoject description

This project takes Frank Sinatra’s Strangers in the Night album from 1966 and uses rich, deep colors to create a new album cover concept. Using a mix of photography and vector graphics, my design focuses on emphasizing the starlit, nervous excitement that this album makes you feel.

Brainstorming

〰️

Brainstorming 〰️

Listening to the album from start to finish, there were colors, visuals, and emotions that immediately came to mind for each song. I jotted down some notes and illustrations for each song, then worked to create a wholistic vision for the album.

MOODBOARD

ILLUSTRATOR SKETCHES

The final design combines my own photography, image tracing, vector sketches, and typography into a unified visual for the album. I chose a serif font for a more classic, elegant feel. Additionally, pops of a deep cranberry red were added for visual interest and warmth in an otherwise blue-toned composition.

Final Design

physical prototype

To take this project one step further, I purchased the Frank Sinatra album vinyl and created a physical prototype. To add an extra touch, I designed a record label sticker to add to the vinyl itself.
